Care Guide
Treat a Frounder well and it'll outlast almost everything else you own. Premium leather is forgiving — a little attention goes a long way.
Everyday
- Wipe with a dry, soft cloth to lift dust and grit.
- Let it breathe — never store leather sealed in plastic.
- A few light marks and a deepening colour aren't damage. That's the patina, and it means the bag is getting better.
Conditioning
- Every few months, or whenever the leather feels dry, work a small amount of neutral leather conditioner into it with a soft cloth.
- Test on a small, hidden area first. Less is more — build it up in thin coats.
- Avoid harsh soaps, solvents, and silicone-based products.
If it gets wet
- Blot, don't rub, with a dry cloth, then let it air-dry away from direct heat. No hairdryers or radiators — fast heat dries leather out and cracks it.
- Monsoon tip: if the bag is caught in the rain, dry it slowly at room temperature, then condition once fully dry.
The engraved surface
- Clean it exactly as you would the rest of the bag. A soft, dry brush lifts dust out of the pattern.
Hardware
- Brass develops a natural patina over time. To brighten it, use a dedicated brass cleaner on a cloth, kept off the leather.
- Wipe steel dry if it's been caught in the rain.
Storage
- Keep it lightly stuffed to hold its shape, in a dust bag, somewhere cool and dry out of direct sun. In humid months, a silica-gel sachet inside helps.
